"We gather here today to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman, Marty aka The Grandma, who was as charismatic as she was resilient. Born Marcella Ann Feldmann on October 20, 1945, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Marty lived a life of wit, loyalty, and resilience that touched the hearts of many.
Marty was a straight shooter and no-nonsense lady who was as reliable as she was witty. Her love for her grandkids, was endless. Her love for art was as profound as her love for her family. Her beautiful works were a testament to her talent, a talent she cherished from childhood until she could no longer hold a brush. In fact she won an art scholarship in highschool for college that she unfortunately could not acept. She established The Grandma Artist image on IG later in life to recover her art love. She was "hip". Indeed, even though life took her in a different direction, for Marty, art was a way of life, a medium through which she expressed her vibrant spirit and enduring zest for life.
Marty was also a lover of dogs (and select cats), her loyal companions through life's ups and downs. She was a champion dog show runner in her youth. She was never married but found great joy and fulfillment in her family and friends. Her resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to her strength, a quality that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Marty is survived by her loved ones, including her daughters, Darcella Craven, Rachel Huggins [Randy, husband], Lisa White; grandchildren Gibriel [Lowell, fiancé], Evyn [Austin, partner], Gabe, Jonnica [Brandon, husband], Bria, Morgan, Riahna, Ryder, Ruvhir, Ryohse; great grandchildren Jardin, Messiah, Melody, Sophia, Kinsley, Liam, Jett, Maverick, Aria and boundless kids of friends who thought of her as Grandma, mother, aunt and friend. They were the apple of her eye and she loved nothing more than playing tricks on granddaughters Gibriel and Evyn, instilling in them her own unique sense of humor. She is also survived by loving "baby" sister Pat Banks [Billy, husband] and "baby" brother Wayne Lashley as she still referred to them. And a host of nieces and nephews Cade, Kristi, Amanda, Meredith, Shawn, Robbie, Vickie, Russell, Debbie, Angela, Becky, Valerie and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Preceded in death by her mother, Rose Lashley; siblings, Isabell Brannon, Fay Harris, Richard Lashley, and Rita Harris, and grandson James.
In the words of Emily Dickinson, "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." In this spirit, we remember and honor Marty, a woman whose love and resilience made her truly immortal. May her spirit continue to inspire and guide us. We invite everyone who knew Marty to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Your contributions will help share with others the memory of our beloved Marty."
